Dryad by calebcleveland Dryad by calebcleveland
This illustration is of a darker, more malicious view of the traditional dryad. No airy nature spirit, this; this dryad is a murderous creature, taking on the semblance of a desirable woman lounging by the water's edge, until the poor, lustful victim is within arm's reach. Then, the veil is lifted, the creature's true form is revealed, and the luckless fool's head is taken as a trophy. Graphite, watercolor on bristol, colored in Photoshop. For Green Ronin/Games Workshop.

I just want to say that I used this wonderful picture as inspiration for a description I was fighting with for about a week in a story I'm writing. Purely awesome work.

Props for being original :D

Your picture is very unique. It's sad that there is only one picture like this and the rest is the same half naked chick with some leaves.

Awsome! I love the idea. I love the way you blend the images of the traditional dryad with something much less benevolent. :)

One awesome view of dryads I have never ever encountered before. It's lovely to see a more wilder version of them. Like they are taking back the forests and nature we humans so eagerly chop away. Awesome

Why, thank you! Yeah, who says dryads can't be dangerous in a wild, woodsy sort of way? I'd hate to meet the lumberjack who'd try to take an axe to this lady's tree...

Amazing. Pretty dryads are all well and good, but sometimes people forget just how cruel they could be. :#1:
I love the branch-hair, and those skulls are just plain neat.

Wow! That is very similar - I like the variant heads for different seasons (a nice touch). Mine came first, in this case, although I shouldn't say I invented the concept - that credit goes to Games Workshop's Dave Gallagher, the artist who developed a lot of the signature graphic style for this partucular game. It's really gerat how many others he's influenced - like practically everybody working on Warcraft, for example.

hey there, your artwork looks really kick ass! Im looking for artists who are interested in making artwork for the Anargo sector project. We are basicly trying to create an entire Imperial Sector in full detail with lots of background and artwork. Im here to recruit skilled artists for the project. So if you are interested, please join up: [link]

We also have a wiki page: [link]

I know our project is a 40k project and not a warhammer fantasy project...but we also are including daemons and weird mutants...I thought you might be interested in perhaps "expanding your horizon" :)

Oh, I love this. I think it takes a great deal of creativity and artistic talent to twist something mostly portrayed as gentle and dreamy into something..well, a little more grotesque and dangerous, as here. There is still the forest feel, but with a darker undertone, like some wonderful dream suddenly turned nightmare.
I love the detail on this, and the colours. I can definitely imagine this little beauty being labeled 'man-eating', haha.
Great work, a definite :+favlove:. I'm absolutely in love with this.
